Online series ‘#UberSTORIES’ gives life to people’s daily commute
Public transportation, particularly in Metro Manila, has gotten a bad reputation among commuters because of traffic congestion in the city and this can pose potential health risks to people who brave the major roads every day.
Being stuck on the road, however, can bring several memorable experiences too, like those that help restore faith in humanity. Uber has taken notice of even the simplest acts of bayanihan daily—particularly those that happen during Uber trips—and has created a video series that reminds people that it isn’t impossible to forge genuine human connections amid the challenge of commuting in the city.
Enter ‘#UberSTORIES.’ It is the transportation app’s special online collection of uplifting real stories that happened to actual passengers after they clicked “Request Your Own Car.” Uber Philippines’ General Manager Laurence Cua shares that these passenger stories have become the fuel to keep Uber moving forward in the Philippines, “We’ve come a long way from just being a ride from here to there. At the core of Uber is building and using technology to connect people—like riders and drivers—so we can create new and magical experiences for them that really make an Uber trip more than just a ride.”
The real-life stories sent by Uber passengers vary—from a bride making it just in time for her wedding to a guy getting a sweet surprise after sharing his UberPOOL with his long-time crush. The latest in the series is this story of an Uber driver who, in just one trip, became a lady’s heaven-sent miracle. Watch the heartwarming Uber story below:
Amid the daily grind, it is still the positive human connections that give commuting its pulse. In Uber’s case, the connection it creates between its drivers and passengers becomes the lifeline in making major cities a more hopeful place for the people living in them.
